How to Animate Your Design in Canva

Want to stop the scroll and add a little ✨wow✨ to your posts? Animation is your new bestie. Canva lets you animate text, elements, and even whole slides to make your designs feel dynamic and fun. Whether it’s a Reel graphic, story slide, or a digital promo—movement catches eyes. Here’s how to make your design move in just a few clicks.

🖥️ Step 1: Create or Open Your Design

Go to www.canva.com and create a new design (try 1080x1920 px for stories or 1080x1080 px for posts), or open one you’ve already built.

🔥 Want a shortcut? Use a pre-made layout from the Diesel Designs Editable Canva Template Drive—many templates are already animation-friendly, so you can drag, drop, and get fancy fast!

✨ Step 2: Click “Animate”

Click on the text box, image, or element you want to animate. Then in the top toolbar, click “Animate.” This opens up all the available animation styles.

Some of the most popular options include:

  • Fade – Smooth & subtle
  • Pop – Quick & bouncy
  • Tumble – Fun & chaotic
  • Rise – Great for announcements

You can also click anywhere off an element and hit “Animate” to animate the entire page or slide!

🔄 Step 3: Adjust Timing

Want your animations to feel smooth and professional? Click “Timing” from the top bar (next to Animate) and adjust how long each slide lasts. This is super helpful when creating multi-page animated graphics, like reels or digital ads.

🎥 Step 4: Preview & Download as a Video

Click the “Play” button in the top-right corner to preview your animation. Once you're happy with it, click “Share”“Download” → Select MP4 video format. Now you’ve got a smooth, animated design ready for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or email promos.

🖤 Pro Tip: Mix Animation With Your Templates

Diesel Designs’ Canva templates work beautifully with Canva animations. Just click “Animate” and bring your product graphics, promo slides, or freebie announcements to life without ever leaving Canva.
