If you’re selling digital files, shirts, tumblers, stickers, or any type of custom merch, mockups are a must. A product mockup shows your design on a real-life object so customers can picture the final product. Canva is one of the easiest tools to create these, even if you’ve never used it before. Let’s break it down step by step.
Start by heading to www.canva.com and creating a free account. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a big search bar at the top of the screen—this is where the magic starts! Type in what kind of mockup you’re looking for, like “t-shirt mockup,” “mug mockup,” or “phone case mockup.” Choose one that fits your vibe and click to open the design page. Canva will load the template and you’re ready to go!
Now it’s time to add your design! On the left-hand toolbar, click the Uploads button (it looks like an arrow going up). Click the purple Upload Files button to find your PNG or JPG design file from your computer. Once it uploads, you can drag it right onto the mockup and move or resize it by pulling the corners. Want the shirt color to match your brand? Just click on the shirt image, then tap the color box in the top left corner to swap it out!
Here’s where Diesel Designs can seriously level up your mockup game 💀✨ — instead of searching Canva’s free templates (which everyone uses), check out the Alternative Blank Mock-Up Drive. It’s packed with edgy, eye-catching, and AI-assisted mockup images you won’t find anywhere else. Just upload one into Canva and BOOM—you’ve got a totally unique display for your design!
When you're done editing, hit Share in the top right corner, then click Download. Choose PNG for a high-quality image, and you’re ready to post your product to your shop or socials! Don’t stress about making it perfect the first time—once you get the hang of it, mockups will become one of your favorite ways to show off your work. And if you ever need bold graphics to plug into your mockups, Diesel Designs has you covered with killer PNGs and themed bundles too!
