Making Pinterest-Worthy Pins from Product Photos

Pinterest is a goldmine for small businesses—especially if you sell digital products, merch, or anything visual. But if your pins look plain or cluttered, they’ll get lost in the scroll. That’s where Canva comes in! With a little strategy and a bold design, you can turn basic product photos into scroll-stopping, click-worthy Pinterest graphics.

🖥️ Step 1: Set Up the Right Size

Head to www.canva.com and click “Create a Design.” Choose or enter 1000 x 1500 px — Pinterest’s preferred vertical size. This gives your pins more space to breathe and stand out on mobile.

📸 Step 2: Upload Your Product Photos

Click the “Uploads” tab on the left and drag in your product photo(s). These could be mockups, lifestyle images, flat lays, or even screenshots if you're promoting digital products. Clean backgrounds or clear focus on the item work best.

🎨 Step 3: Add Bold, Clickable Text

Use the Text tool to write a headline that’s bold and irresistible. Think: “100+ Pride PNGs”, “Editable Brand Board Template”, or “Freebies for Shirt Makers”

Stick to 1–2 fonts max. Keep it legible and high-contrast (dark text on light backgrounds or vice versa). Add a subtle drop shadow or highlight effect for extra pop!

💀 Use Diesel Designs Templates to Save Time

Want premade pin layouts that look good *every time*? Grab the Editable Canva Template Drive. It includes Pinterest-ready templates designed specifically for makers, designers, and sellers. Just drop in your photo, swap the text, and go!

🎯 Step 4: Add a CTA & Website Link

Add a mini call-to-action like “Click to Download,” “Shop Now,” or “Grab This Freebie” near the bottom of your pin. This encourages viewers to engage. You can also include your website URL in small text or as a watermark to drive traffic + protect your designs.

📥 Step 5: Download & Upload to Pinterest

Click “Share”“Download” → Choose PNG for the best quality. Then head over to Pinterest, click “Create Pin”, upload your image, add your product title, description, and the direct link to your product or blog post.
